Little Rock began their season on a 1-3 run, falling to Southern Illinois, Central Arkansas and East Tennessee State in that time. After a win over Jackson State, the Trojans fell to Indiana and Miami-OH in their next pair.

On Saturday versus Miami-OH, the Trojans faced a 43-27 deficit by halftime. Little Rock scored 40 in the second half but still lost 80-67. DJ Smith led the scoring on 18 points, and Nigel John managed 17 points with five boards.

Over on the Dons’ side, they kicked off the year with a 6-0 run. San Francisco beat Texas Southern, Cal Poly, UC Merced, Fresno State, Northern Iowa and Wichita State in succession during that stretch.

Game seven was a matchup versus Davidson. The Dons had a four-point lead at the half, then got outscored 53-40 in the second for an 89-80 loss. Khalil Shabazz topped the team on 20 points, and Tyrell Roberts added 13 points.

PICK: I’ll probably stick with San Francisco here. The Dons had a bad second half against Davidson in a game they probably should have won. San Francisco shot 46.7 percent to the Wildcats’ 60.9 percent in that one, but did pick up 29 rebounds and 13 team assists. As for Little Rock, they’ve managed to score 67 or more points in each of their last six games. If the Trojans have another good offensive outing they should hang around for a while but this should be San Francisco’s cover to take.
