Seattle vs New Mexico State 1/12/23 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The New Mexico State Aggies and the Seattle Redhawks meet Thursday in college basketball action from Climate Pledge Arena. New Mexico State is 7-9 overall this year. The Aggies lost to Cal Baptist in their last game. As for Seattle, they’re 12-4 on the season after a win over TX-Arlington. New Mexico State managed a 7-5 run through their first 12 games, losing to UTEP, UC Irvine, Santa Clara, Saint Mary’s and Kent State. The Aggies are 0-4 since then with losses to Southern Utah, Sam Houston, Stephen F. Austin and Cal Baptist.

Matched up against Cal Baptist on Saturday, the Aggies were outscored 27-20 in the first half. New Mexico State didn’t get any closer on 41 second-half points and lost 70-61. Deshawndre Washington led the team on 20 points with three rebounds.

Over on the Seattle side, they were 8-4 over their first 12 games. The Redhawks fell to Washington, Oregon State, Utah State and Iona in that time. Seattle has won over George Washington, Cal Baptist, UTRGV and TX-Arlington in the quartet since.

In the TX-Arlington game back on Saturday, the Redhawks took a 41-36 edge into the break. Seattle posted a 35-25 run from there and took it 76-61. Tops in scoring was Cameron Tyson with 20 points. Kobe Williamson doubled on 10 points and 10 boards as well.

PICK: I’m going to stay with Seattle. The Redhawks are taking care of business during this 4-0 run—despite a close call versus UTRGV last Thursday. Seattle has hit 71 or more points in four of their last five outings. As for New Mexico State, they haven’t been able to crack 62 points in any of their last three games and they’ve surrendered 69 or more points in six straight outings. Seattle should have plenty of scoring opportunities in this one, and I don’t think New Mexico State will be able to keep up.
