UT Rio Grande Valley started the year at a reasonable 4-2 but hasn’t been able to win consecutive games since then. The Vaqueros are 1-5 in their last six games. The latest loss came to Abilene Christian over the weekend.

On Saturday versus Abilene Christian, the Vaqueros were outscored 31-47 in the first half and 35-36 from there in an eventual 83-66 loss. Leading scorer Justin Johnson came up with 19 points with seven rebounds and 10 turnovers.

Over on the Seattle side, their year started at 8-4 before a nice nine-game win streak in January. The last two games have been losses for the Redhawks, however. Those came versus Grand Canyon and New Mexico State.

Matched up against New Mexico State on Saturday, the Redhawks put up 28 points in the first half and 36 more in the second in a 79-64 loss. Darrion Trammell led the team with 26 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals in the defeat.

The Redhawks are 4-1 ATS in the last five Thursday games and 6-2 ATS in the last eight after a straight-up loss. Seattle is 7-2-1 ATS in the last 10 overall.
Meanwhile, the Vaqueros are 4-1 ATS in their last five after an ATS loss and 6-13 ATS in their last 19 after a straight-up loss. The over is 15-7 in UTRGV’s last 22 road games.

PICK: I’m going to stay with Seattle. The Redhawks need a bounce-back performance here after a couple of tepid outings, though. Seattle has hit 66 points or fewer in their last two games; they hit 70 or more in each matchup of their nine-game win streak.

As for UTRGV, they’ve got a few good offensive performances lately but they’re also giving up a ton of points on the other side. Seattle should have plenty of opportunities to stack up the points in this one.
