The Charleston Southern Buccaneers and the South Carolina State Bulldogs meet Monday in college basketball action from SHM Memorial Center. Here’s a South Carolina State vs Charleston Southern prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best South Carolina State vs Charleston Southern pick.

Charleston Southern Buccaneers Betting Preview

The Buccaneers lost seven of their first eight games this year to Clemson, North Florida, UTRGV, VMI, LSU, Furman, and Georgia Tech. Charleston Southern would then beat Miami and TN-Martin before another loss to Davidson.

In the Davidson matchup on Friday, the Bucs came back from a 37-31 halftime deficit in the second but ultimately fell just short in a 73-72 finish. Taje’ Kelly was the lead scorer on 22 points and 11 boards. Daylen Berry also doubled on 11 points and 10 rebounds.

South Carolina State Bulldogs Betting Preview

Over on the South Carolina State side, they went 4-3 over their first seven games. Those wins were over Morris, Voorhees, Alabama A&M and IUPUI. Since then it’s been losses to Marshall, Xavier, and Samford, however.

On Thursday versus Samford, South Carolina State was down 54-46. After 35 more points from there, South Carolina State finished with an 88-81 defeat. Wilson Dubinsky came off the bench to post 15 points and two rebounds.

South Carolina State vs Charleston Southern Prediction

I’ll probably go with SC State here. The Bulldogs shot well from the field (55.6 percent) and had a 31-23 rebounding advantage in their latest loss to Samford, but the 14 turnovers (leading to 17 Samford points) weighed the team down. The good news is that South Carolina State’s 81 points were the highest since November 22 (82). The bad news is that South Carolina State has given up 71 or more points in three straight.

As for Charleston Southern, they shot 45.8 percent from the field with a 38-31 rebounding edge against a pretty good Davidson team in their last outing. The Bucs missed half of their 18 free throws however, and had 11 turnovers. Charleston Southern has 72 or more points in three straight games themselves, so this one has the makings of a high total if both teams are on point.
