The Delaware State Hornets and the South Carolina State Bulldogs meet Thursday in college basketball action from Norfolk Scope. Let’s get into our Delaware State vs. South Carolina prediction. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.
Delaware State Hornets
The Hornets’ season got off to a middling 10-9 start before a four-game losing streak in early February. Delaware State is just 3-4 in their last seven games with wins over Coppin State, Morgan State and Norfolk State alongside losses to South Carolina State, NC Central, Howard and MD-Eastern Shore.
Matched up against MD-Eastern Shore last Thursday, the Hornets couldn’t find much offense. Delaware State was up 29-28 by the break, then posted a 39-30 deficit on the way to a 67-59 loss. Leading scorer Jevin Muniz put up 28 points with four rebounds in the losing effort.

South Carolina State Bulldogs
Over on the Bulldogs’ side, they started out on a rough 4-14 run but haven’t lost consecutive games since then. South Carolina State is 5-1 in their last six with wins over Howard, Delaware State, MD-Eastern Shore, Morgan State and Coppin State prior to a loss versus NC Central.
In the NC Central game last week, South Carolina State was down by five at the break. The Bulldogs didn’t end up getting any closer on a 41-35 second half and lost 79-68 in the end. Raquan Brown was the top team scorer with his 19 points and five rebounds in 26 minutes.
ANDREW’S FREE DELAWARE STATE VS SOUTH CAROLINA STATE PREDICTION
I’ll stick with South Carolina State. The Bulldogs need a good bounce-back game after falling to NC State last week, but this is a promising spot to get it. South Carolina State shot just 37.9 percent from the field in that one but did manage an 18-8 advantage on the offensive glass. That makes a sub-70-point finish in four of the last five games for SC State.
In their last meeting with Delaware State on February 24, the Bulldogs powered out a 69-62 win after a spotty first half. Neither team shot particularly well (both below 42.7 percent) and each team had 18 turnovers in a sloppy outing. It wasn’t exactly South Carolina State’s best effort; I like a more dominant outcome in this tournament rematch.
