Arkansas Razorbacks

Arkansas was 12-2 through 12 games this year, losing to only Creighton and LSU. The Razorbacks have since gone just 3-5 with losses to Auburn, Alabama, Vanderbilt, Missouri and Baylor alongside wins over Texas A&M, Ole Miss and LSU.

In the Texas A&M matchup back on Tuesday, the Razorbacks managed a 42-34 edge in the first half. Arkansas kept it up with a 39-36 run from there and won the game 81-70. Both Ricky Council and Davonte Davis posted a team-high 19 points.

South Carolina Gamecocks

Over on the South Carolina side, they opened the year on a .500 run with an 8-8 record through 16 games. The Gamecocks are riding a six-game skid since then, falling to Texas A&M, Ole Miss, auburn, Florida, Georgia and Mississippi State.

Matched up against Mississippi State on Tuesday, the Gamecocks trailed 32-26 in the locker room. South Carolina didn’t get any closer on a 34-25 second half run and fell 66-51. GG Jackson was tops with 15 points in the defeat.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’m going to take a stab on Arkansas. Granted, both teams are struggling and could use a good showing. This should be a pretty solid matchup all things considered, but the line looks a little too thick to mess with. In any case, Arkansas played pretty well in the Texas A&M win on Tuesday, shooting 50 percent from the floor with 40 rebounds and 16 team assists. In the three games prior, Arkansas hadn’t made it to 70 points so it was a nice offensive effort to see. As for South Carolina, they’ve faced some tricky competition lately with zero positive results. This will be a tough matchup as well. If the Razorbacks get off to a good start here I don’t see South Carolina keeping up for long.
