The Grand Canyon Antelopes and South Carolina Gamecocks face off on Sunday in a college basketball showdown at Gila River Arena.
Perfect Start for Grand Canyon
Grand Canyon has looked good to start the season and in the last game they were able to knock off San Francisco. Grand Canyon scored 76 points and that was enough for the four point victory. Tyron Grant-Foster was the top player for Grand Canyon putting up 26 points and seven rebounds. Rayshon Harris also finished with 24 points. Grand Canyon is averaging 84.3 points while their defense is giving up 64.7 points per game. In this game it’s going to come down to if the defense can step up here.
South Carolina Almost Blew the Last Game
Grand Canyon has a perfect record to start the season, but they almost blew the last game against DePaul. The Gamecocks were outscored 36-32 in the second half. Meechie Johnson Jr was the top player for South Carolina putting up 24 points, five rebounds, and one assist. South Carolina on the season is averaging 77 points while their defense is giving up 65.5 points per game. The offense is good for this team, but if this team wants to find success they are going to need some more success on the defensive side.
Shane’s Free Pick
I think South Carolina can keep this game close. South Carolina might not have as good of offensive stats as Grand Canyon, but they have the offense to keep this game close. Look for South Carolina to go over their season average of 77. I am not sold on this Grand Canyon defense being good, and that is going to be the difference here. Back South Carolina against the spread.
