The South Carolina State Bulldogs and the USF Bulls meet in college basketball action from the Yuengling Center on Friday night.
The South Carolina State Bulldogs will be out to rebound from back-to-back losses after a 91-79 loss at the hands of the Citadel last time out. Cam Jones leads the Bulldogs in scoring with 12.9 PPG along with 4.3 RPG as the lone double-digit scorer for South Carolina State so far this season while Rakeim Gary has 9.8 PPG and Antonio Madlock has 8.9 PPG and 4.9 RPG as well this season. Edward Oliver-Hampton has a team-high 7.6 RPG and Madlock leads the Bulldogs with 3.2 APG this season. As a team, South Carolina State’s averaging 70.8 PPG on 37.4% shooting from the field, 30.4% from three and 69% from the foul line while allowing 80.8 PPG on 45.1% shooting from the field, and 33% from three this season.
The USF Bulls come into this game looking to bounce back from a 64-49 loss to Boston College in their last game. Caleb Murphy leads the Bulls in scoring with 11.8 PPG as well as in assists with 3.3 APG as USF’s lone double-digit scorer while Javon Greene has 8.8 PPG with 4.5 RPG and Jamir Chaplin has 4.5 RPG as well. Russel Tchewa leads the Bulls with a team-high 5.3 RPG as well on the year. As a team, USF is averaging 55.2 PPG on 36.9% shooting from the field, 25.8% from three and 59.7% from the foul line while allowing 55.8 PPG on 38.7% shooting from the field and 27.1% from three this season.
South Carolina State is 10-2-2 ATS in their last 14 games overall and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games following a double-digit loss at home while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 games after allowing 90 points or more in the previous game. USF is 1-6-1 ATS in their last 8 games after scoring 50 points or less in the previous game and 1-6 ATS in their last 7 home games against a team with a losing record while the under is 7-0 in their last 7 games overall.
I get why USF would be favored at home here as South Carolina State hasn’t been all that special to write home about this season. However, I’m not sure the Bulls are capable of winning a game by this many points if we’re being honest and I just don’t want anything to do with them. Not a game I’m rushing to bet, but if forced to pick, It’s South Carolina State and the points or pass for me here.
