Southern Mississippi vs McNeese State 12/18/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The McNeese Cowboys and the Southern Miss Golden Eagles meet in college basketball action from the Reed Green Coliseum on Sunday afternoon.

The McNeese Cowboys will be out to bounce back after a 78-70 loss to Louisiana in their last game. Trae English leads the Cowboys in scoring with 12.1 PPG and in assists with 2.9 APG while Christian Shumate has 11.1 PPG and a team-high 10.1 RPG to lead the Cowboys in rebounding this season as the only other double-digit scorer for McNeese up to this point in the season. As a team, McNeese is averaging 64.4 PPG on 41.8% shooting from the field, 32.5% from three and 54.9% from the foul line this season.

The Southern Miss Golden Eagles will hope to build on their 91-65 road win over Lamar last time out. Felipe Haase has 17.3 PPG with 7.4 RPG to lead Southern Miss in scoring and rebounding while also chipping in 2.5 APG as well this season. Austin Crowley has 16.2 PPG with 3.4 RPG and 2.9 APG while Denijay Harris has 10.3 PPG with 5.3 RPG and DeAndre Pinckney has 10.8 PPG with 6.5 RPG to cap off the scoring in double figures for Southern Miss this season. Mo Arnold also has a team-high 3.5 APG to lead Southern Miss in the assist department as well this season. As a team, Southern Miss is averaging 79.9 PPG on 48.3% shooting from the field, 33.3% from three and 66% from the foul line this season.

McNeese is 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games overall and 6-2 ATS in their last 8 road games while the under is 6-2 in their last 8 games overall. Southern Miss is 7-1 ATS in their last 8 games overall and 5-0 ATS in their last 5 home games while the over is 7-3 in their last 10 games following an ATS win.

I get the case to be made for either side in this game as this is a big number and I’m not used to laying it with Southern Miss. However, McNeese has serious scoring issues as they’re 330th in points per game and are going up against a top-50 scoring offense in Southern Miss. We’ve seen McNeese gets pummelled in lesser spots like this one and I just think that the Golden Eagles roll their way to a romp and a cover here.
