Longwood won three of their first five games over Pfeiffer, VMI and Fairleigh Dickinson. The Lancers would hit a 2-3 run after that, losing to SIU Edwardsville, San Diego and Wichita State during that stretch.

In Saturday’s matchup versus the Shockers, the Lancers were down 43-29 by the break. Longwood didn’t get any closer after that and lost 81-63. Nate Lliteras led the team on 11 points, and Michael Christmas snagged 10 rebounds.

Over on the St. Francis BK side, they went 2-4 over their first six games this year, falling to Minnesota, St. Thomas MN, Miami-FL and South Florida. After wins over Delaware State and Hartford the Terriers lost again to UMass Lowell.

Matched up against UMass Lowell on Saturday, the Terriers scored just 20 points in the first half. St. Francis BK got better in the second but still lost 68-59. Rob Higgins led the team on 14 points, while Larry Moreno had 11 points and nine boards.

PICK: I’ll probably try Longwood here. This should be a pretty interesting matchup. The Lancers didn’t play great against Wichita State in their last matchup, shooting a tepid 35.9 percent from the floor. Longwood managed to keep the pace on the boards (35-35 rebounding) however, and they’ve notched some pretty solid points totals over the last four games or so. As for St. Francis BK, they’re not a big-scoring team this year; they’ve surpassed 68 points just once in their last eight games. Longwood should have a good shot at a cover if they play well.
