The Ole Miss Rebels and the Stanford Cardinal meet Thursday in college basketball action from HP Field House. Ole Miss is sitting pretty at 4-0 overall this year. The Rebels beat TN-Martin in their last game. As for Stanford, they’re 2-2 on the season following a win over Cal Poly. Ole Miss has begun their year on a nice hot streak with four straight victories. The Rebels took out Alcorn State 73-58 in the opener, then beat Florida Atlantic 80-67. Game three was another victory, this time 70-58 versus Chattanooga.

In Friday’s matchup versus TN-Martin, the Rebels were down 39-32 at the break. Ole Miss surged on a 40-29 run in the second for a 72-68 win. Tops in scoring was Matthew Murrell with 16 points and five rebounds.

Over on the Stanford side, they were able to beat Pacific 88-78 in their opener. The Cardinal couldn’t handle Wisconsin in game two and lost 60-50. Game three was another defeat, 74-62 at the hands of San Diego State.

The Cardinal got back into the win column on Friday versus Cal Poly. Stanford drilled the Mustangs 47-19 in the first half and cruised to an 80-43 blowout win. The Cardinal’s Max Murrell and Michael Jones each scored 15 points.

PICK: I’m probably going to stay with Ole Miss in this one. We’re probably in for a great matchup, though. The Rebels had a sluggish first half in their last outing versus TN-Martin and ultimately shot a tepid 38.9 percent from the field. Ole Miss managed a 41-34 rebounding edge and had a great second half on the way to the win. As for Stanford, they’re coming off a great game versus Cal Poly, shooting 49.2 percent from the floor. Ole Miss will be a much tougher customer however, and I don’t think the Cardinal will win/cover.
