The Clemson Tigers and the Syracuse Orange meet Tuesday in college basketball action from the Carrier Dome. Clemson is currently 10-7 on the year. The Tigers lost to Boston College in their last game. As for Syracuse, they’re 8-9 this season and fell to Florida State in their most recent outing. Clemson posted a sketchy 5-4 run in their first nine games this year, then hit a win streak over Drake, Miami-OH, South Carolina and Virginia. The last four games have been a 1-3 run with losses to Virginia, Notre Dame and Boston College.

Matched up against Boston College on Saturday, the Tigers had a 23-point advantage at one point in the first half. Clemson eventually fell apart and gave away a 70-68 loss, though. Leading the team in scoring was Al-Amir Dawes with 17 points and two boards.

Over on the Syracuse side, they went 7-5 over their first dozen games this year. Things haven’t been great lately, though; it’s been a 1-4 run over the last five. The Orange has fallen to Virginia, Miami, Wake Forest and Florida State in that time.

In the Florida State game Saturday, the Orange had a one-point halftime lead. Syracuse was outscored 40-34 from there and lost 76-71. Buddy Boeheim led the way on 18 points and three assists. Cole Swider chipped in 17 points and seven rebounds.

The under is 7-3 in the Orange’s last 10 overall and they’re 5-1 ATS in their last six Tuesday games. The over is 5-1 in Syracuse’s last six after an ATS loss.
Meanwhile, the Tigers are 4-10 ATS in their last 14 road games and 3-7-1 ATS in their last 11 Tuesday games. The under is 8-2 in Clemson’s last 10 road games.

PICK: I’m going to try taking a stab on Syracuse. Neither one of these teams generates much confidence right now though. The Orange are just 1-4 in their last five but they’ve still been scoring pretty well with 69 or more points in each of those matchups. As for Clemson, they’ve been spotty scoring-wise with 68 or fewer in four of their last five. A lot of different things could happen in this one and it’ll probably come down to some late-game heroics. I’m not going near it in reality, but I think Syracuse can pull off the cover. Should be a really fun game.
