Tarleton State vs Texas-Arlington Basketball Picks 3-15-24

The UT-Arlington Mavericks and the Tarleton Texans meet Friday in the college basketball WAC Tournament Semifinals at the Orleans Arena. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this game. Here’s a UT-Arlington vs. Tarleton Prediction.

UT-Arlington Team Preview

The UT-Arlington Mavericks booked their spot in the semis by virtue of their 109-78 beatdown win over Stephen F. Austin last time out. Phillip Russell has 13.5 PPG with 4.2 APG in 19 games so far this season while DaJuan Gordon has 12.9 PPG and a team-high 8.4 RPG to lead the Mavericks on the glass. Shemar Wilson has 11.8 PPG with 7.9 RPG and Makaih Williams has 11.2 PPG with 2.8 APG to cap off the scoring in double figures for the Mavericks this season. As a team, UT-Arlington is averaging 75.6 PPG on 43.4% shooting from the field, 34.6% from three and 73.3% from the foul line this season.

Tarleton Team Preview

The Tarleton Texans come into the conference tournament as the 2-seed, finishing the year with a 23-8 overall record including a 16-4 mark in WAC conference play. Jakorie Smith leads the Texans in scoring with 15.8 PPG along with 4.6 RPG while KiAndre Gaddy has 12.2 PPG with a team-high 7 RPG to lead the Texans on the glass up to this point in the year. Lue Williams has 13.2 PPG with 4.5 RPG while Devon Barnes has 12.7 PPG to cap off the group of double-digit scorers for the Texans up to this point in the year. As a team, Tarleton is averaging 73.2 PPG on 45.3% shooting from the field, 32.3% from three and 75.2% from the foul line this season.

UT-Arlington vs. Tarleton Prediction

I get why Arlington’s favored after that impressive offensive display against Stephen F. Austin and the Mavericks have had a game to shake off the rust while Tarleton had the double-bye for the first time. However, Tarleton won both meetings with the Mavericks this season and were 9-4 ATS in the underdog role this season. Tarleton can’t make the NCAA tournament, so I think the Texans treat every game in this tournament as their national championship. Give me Tarleton and the points here.
