TCU vs Mississippi Valley State 12/18/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils and the TCU Horned Frogs meet in college basketball action from the Schollmaier Arena on Sunday.

The Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils will try to bounce back for an upset after a 66-51 loss to Tulsa on the road last time out. Terry Collins leads the Delta Devils in scoring, rebounding and assists with 15.2 PPG, 4.8 RPG and 1.8 APG while Rayquan Brown has 11 PPG with 9.5 RPG after his first two games of the season. As a team, Mississippi Valley State is averaging 52.6 PPG on 36.3% shooting from the field, 35.7% from three and 64.8% from the foul line this season.

The TCU Horned Frogs will be out to build on an 83-75 win over SMU last time out. Mike Miles Jr. has 18.2 PPG along with 3.7 RPG and 3 APG. Emanuel Miller has 12.3 PPG with 5.3 RPG. Micah Peavy has 10.1 PPG and Damion Baugh has 11.3 PPG and 5.7 RPG this season to cap off the group of double-digit scorers for TCU so far this season. Eddie Lampkin Jr. has a team-high 7.3 RPG to lead the Horned Frogs on the glass while Shahada Wells has a team-high 3.8 APG to lead TCU in the assist department. As a team, TCU is averaging 75.8 PPG on 44.8% shooting from the field, 28.6% from three and 69.3% from the foul line this season.

Mississippi Valley State is 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games overall and 7-2 ATS in their last 9 road games while the under is 4-0-1 in their last 5 games following an ATS win. TCU is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games and 5-21 ATS in their last 26 games against a team with a losing record while the under is 6-2 in their last 8 games against a team with a winning percentage below .400.

I get the reasoning for TCU being a massive favorite at home here, but don’t look now, the Delta Devils have covered 7 of their last 9 games and a lot of it has to do with getting ridiculous numbers like they’re getting here. TCU is the better team without question, but they almost lost to Northwestern State as 21.5-point favorites this season and haven’t covered either time they were laying 35 points to start the year. I’ll actually take the points with Mississippi Valley State here.
