TCU vs Texas Prediction Basketball Picks 2-3-24

The Texas Longhorns and the TCU Horned Frogs meet Saturday in college basketball action from Schollmaier Arena. Texas enters this one at 14-7 so far. The Longhorns lost to Houston in their last game. As for TCU, they’re 16-5 overall and coming off a win over Texas Tech. Let’s get into our Texas vs. TCU prediction. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

Texas Longhorns

The Longhorns only lost three of their first 15 games this year versus UConn, Marquette and Texas Tech. Texas has gone a sketchy 2-4 since then though, with wins over Baylor and Oklahoma among losses to West Virginia, UCF, BYU and Houston in that stretch.

Back on Monday versus Houston, Texas had a very competitive matchup. The Longhorns came back from a 33-25 halftime deficit to force overtime, but were outscored 11-7 from there in a 76-72 defeat. Max Abmas was the team’s leading scorer on 20 points, five rebounds and five assists.

TCU Horned Frogs

Over on the Frogs’ side, they only took three losses in their first 16 games to Clemson Nevada and Kansas. TCU would then lose consecutive matchups versus Cincinnati and Iowa State, but rebounded well with three straight wins over Oklahoma State, Baylor and Texas Tech since then.

Matched up against Texas Tech on Tuesday, the Frogs held a four-point edge going into the second half. TCU hit a 45-42 run from there and powered out the win 85-78. Trevian Tennyson was the team’s top scorer in the victory, posting 23 points, three rebounds, two assists and a steal.

ANDREW’S FREE TEXAS VS TCU PREDICTION

I’ll stick with TCU. You could probably call it either way, though; this should be a great matchup. The Horned Frogs beat a great Texas Tech team in their last outing, hitting 43.1 percent from the field and 55 percent from 3-point range alongside a 34-27 rebounding edge. TCU is 7-3 in their last 10 games, and each of those three losses came by four points or fewer.

As for Texas, they had a tough loss to Houston in their last game and this will be their fifth ranked opponent in a row (with Iowa State still looming on the 6th). I like the Longhorns to put up a good effort here, but with all they’ve been through lately I don’t think they’ll have the legs to power out a cover. It’ll be a fun matchup though, and should also be very competitive.
