TCU vs West Virginia Pick – Basketball Predictions & Odds 1/31/23

The West Virginia Mountaineers and the TCU Horned Frogs meet Tuesday in college basketball action from Schollmaier Arena. West Virginia enters this one at 13-8 overall. The Mountaineers beat Auburn in their last game. As for TCU, they’re 16-5 on the season after a loss to Mississippi State on Saturday. West Virginia Mountaineers 

West Virginia went 10-6 over their first 16 games, losing to Purdue, Xavier, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, Kansas and Baylor. The Mountaineers are 3-2 in their last five with wins over TCU, Texas Tech and Auburn. 

In the Auburn matchup on Saturday, the Mountaineers took a 45-29 edge into the second half. West Virginia was outscored 48-35 from there but held on for the 80-77 win. Leading scorer Erik Stevenson posted 31 points with six rebounds. 

TCU Horned Frogs

Over on the TCU side, they hit a 13-3 run over their first 16 with losses to Northwestern State, Iowa State and Texas. In their five games since, the Frogs are 3-2 with wins over Kansas State, Kansas and Oklahoma. 

In the Mississippi State game back on Saturday, the Frogs came back from a 31-25 halftime deficit to force overtime. TCU was outscored 15-8 from there and lost 81-74. Damion Baugh was the leading scorer on 19 points and five rebounds. 

ANDREW’S FREE PICK 

I’ll probably try TCU here. The Frogs are coming off a tough OT loss to a pretty good Mississippi State team. TCU shot 39.7 percent in that one and got out-rebounded 42-33 during the defeat. Still, the Frogs have hit 67 or more points in 14 of their last 15 outings and will likely notch a solid total here. As for West Virginia, they played a great game against Auburn in their last matchup and they beat TCU 74-65 the last time these teams met on January 18. I like the Horned Frogs to get some revenge with a cover/victory in this one, though. Should be a great matchup.
