The Alabama A&M Bulldogs will look to bounce back from an 84-76 loss to North Alabama in their season opener last time out. Garrett Hicks led the Bulldogs with 18 points on 6 of 11 shooting with 4 threes while EJ Williams had 13 points on 6 of 7 shooting with a team-high 5 assists and 6 rebounds as well in the loss. Messiah Thompson added 12 points with 4 assists and a pair of steals to round out the trio of double-digit scorers for Alabama A&M while Brandon Powell added a team-high 8 rebounds.
The Tennessee State Tigers will be out to build on their 2-0 start after an 80-61 win over South Carolina State last time out. Zion Griffin and Jr. Clay each had a team-high 23 points with Griffin shooting 7 of 15 from the floor with 3 threes and team-highs of 9 rebounds and 4 blocks while Clay shot 7 of 13 with 3 threes and 3 assists. Marcus Fitzgerald Jr. added 12 points with a team-high 6 assists while Adong Makuoi added 11 points with 8 rebounds to cap off the scoring in double-digits for Tennessee State in the win. Justin Williams also chipped in 5 assists and 4 steals in the victory.

I get the reasoning for backing an underdog in some spots, but Alabama A&M’s been a D-I doormat for some time now and a game against Tennessee State isn’t going to change my mind on that. This isn’t a world-beater Tigers team, but they’re good enough to beat up on a bad Alabama A&M team here. Give me the Tigers in this one.
