Little Rock Trojans
Little Rock won just five of their first 16 games, beating AR Baptist, Jackson State, Philander Smith, Central AR and TN-Martin. The Trojans lost four more games from there before bagging another win over Tennessee State.
In the Morehead State matchup on Thursday, the Trojans were down by four points going into the second half. Little Rock kept the pace from there but still lost 76-72. Myron Gardner managed to double up in the defeat with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles
Over on the Tennessee Tech side, they went 5-11 in their first 16 as well with wins over Tennessee Wesleyan, Truett-McConnell, East Tennessee State, KY Christian and Eastern Illinois. The Eagles won their next four then lost to SEMO last weekend.
Matched up against SIU Edwardsville on Thursday, the Eagles jumped out to a 36-23 lead at the break. Tennessee Tech posted another 44 points in the second half and won it 80-68. Jaylen Sebree put up 20 points with 11 rebounds in the victory.
ANDREW’S FREE PICK
I’ll probably stay with Tennessee Tech. The last time these teams met up back on January 19 at Jack Stephens Center, the Eagles eked out a 77-75 win. Tennessee Tech didn’t have a great second half in that one but pulled out the win. The Eagles are currently on a 6-1 run, and I like them to keep it going here. Little Rock should be able to hang around for much of the game if they play well, but I don’t think the Trojans will keep the cover pace the whole way.
