Monmouth lost eight straight games this year before a win over Manhattan. Since then it’s been losses to Princeton, Syracuse, Charlotte, Yale, UNC Wilmington, Stony Brook, Drexel and Hofstra in succession.

On Wednesday versus Hofstra, the Hawks took a 36-26 deficit into the break. Monmouth fell further behind on a 41-31 second half and lost 77-57. Tahron Allen led the team on 13 points, and Myles Foster put up 11 points.

Over on the Towson side, they hit an 8-4 run through their first 12 games, losing to Fairfield, Clemson, Navy and Northern Iowa. The Tigers are 2-3 in their last five games with losses to Bryant, Charleston and Delaware.

On Wednesday in the Delaware game, the Tigers trailed 39-26 going into the second half. Towson kept the pace from there and lost 72-59. Nicholas Timberlake was the leading team scorer on 13 points with four rebounds.

PICK: I’ll probably stick with Towson. Also probably not going near it, though; the Tigers have had it rough lately and the line is a little too thick to mess with. Towson has hit the skids over this 2-6 stretch; they’ve failed to hit 70 points in six of their last seven games and looked really out of sync in the Delaware game. The good news is that they’re facing a struggling Monmouth team Saturday. The Hawks have lost by 20 points or more in four of their last six games, so it shouldn’t take much to get a victory. Covering is another story all together, though.
