The Wichita State Shockers and the Tulsa Golden Hurricane meet in college basketball action from the Reynolds Center on Wednesday night.
The Wichita State Shockers will look to snap a three-game losing streak after an 81-57 loss to Memphis last time out. Tyson Etienne leads the Shockers in scoring with 14.9 PPG with 2.8 RPG while Morris Udeze has 10.2 PPG with 6 RPG and Ricky Council IV has 11.7 PPG with 5.3 RPG to round out the group of double-digit scorers for Wichita State this season. Craig Porter Jr. has a team-high 3.7 APG as well on the year. As a team, Wichita State is averaging 68.3 PPG on 39.8% shooting from the field, 31.8% from three and 74.8% from the foul line while allowing 66.4 PPG on 41.5% shooting from the field and 32.1% from three this season.
The Tulsa Golden Hurricane will look to rebound from back-to-back losses after a 64-59 loss to East Carolina last time out. Jeriah Horne leads the Golden Hurricane in scoring and rebounding with 16.1 PPG and 6.7 RPG while Sam Griffin has 14.8 PPG as the only other double-digit scorer for Tulsa up to this point in the season. Darien Jackson has 9.4 PPG and Anthony Pritchard’s chipping in a team-high 3 APG as well this season. As a team, Tulsa is averaging 67.5 PPG on 43.8% shooting from the field, 34.5% from three and 74.3% from the foul line while allowing 69.4 PPG on 44.2% shooting from the field and 36.6% from three this season.
Wichita State is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 road games while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 games following an ATS loss. Tulsa is 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games against a team with a winning record and 0-7 ATS in their last 7 Wednesday games while the over is 5-1 in their last 6 home games against a team with a losing road record.
Both of these teams aren’t really going anywhere in the conference tournament in the coming weeks if we’re being realistic. However, I think that means that Tulsa is where the value lies here as the Golden Hurricane could use the confidence booster win and Tulsa by far plays better at home. I’ll side with Tulsa and the free bucket here.
