The Chattanooga Mocs and the UNC Greensboro Spartans meet in college basketball action from the Greensboro Coliseum Complex.
The Chattanooga Mocs will look to build on their 71-69 win over Furman last time out. Malachi Smith leads the Mocs in scoring and assists with 21.5 PPG and 3.3 APG while David Jean-Baptiste has 14.6 PPG and Silvio De Sousa has 12.2 PPG with a team-high 7.5 RPG to make up the trio of double-digit scorers for Chattanooga so far this season. As a team, Chattanooga is averaging 76.8 PPG on 47.6% shooting from the field, 35.9% from three and 72.8% from the foul line while allowing 63.4 PPG on 41.1% shooting from the field and 30.3% from three this season.
The UNC Greensboro Spartans will look to bounce back from a 58-49 loss to Mercer last time out. De’Monte Buckingham leads UNCG in scoring and rebounding with 13.4 PPG and 7.5 RPG as the lone double-digit scorer for the Spartans up to this point in the season. Bas Leyte has 9.1 PPG with 5.9 RPG while Kobe Langley has a team-high 3.4 APG as well this season. As a team, UNC-Greensboro is averaging 63.2 PPG on 42.1% shooting from the field, 33.8% from three and 72.8% from the foul line while allowing 62.9 PPG on 39.9% shooting from the field and 31.9% from three this season.
Chattanooga is 36-16 ATS in their last 52 road games and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 road games against a team with a winning home record while the over is 8-3 in their last 11 games overall. UNC-Greensboro is 4-0-1 ATS in their last 5 home games and 2-6-1 ATS in their last 9 Thursday games while the under is 5-1 in their last 6 games overall.
I get the case to be made for a home dog, but these are two even defensive units, and side-by-side, Chattanooga’s a far better offensive team than UNCG. The Spartans could keep this one close, but I lean towards Chattanooga to pull away late and get the cover here.
