North Carolina A&T Aggies

NC A&T won just six of their first 16 games over Edward Winters, St. Andrews, UNCG, Greensboro, TX Southern and Hofstra. The Aggies are 5-3 since then with losses to UNC Wilmington, Towson and Monmouth.

In the Monmouth game on Saturday, the Aggies were down 37-29 by the break. NC A&T didn’t get any closer on a 42-35 second-half deficit and lost the game 79-64. Marcus Watson was tops in scoring with 25 points and seven rebounds.

UNC Wilmington Seahawks

Over on the UNC Wilmington side, they went 13-3 in their first 16 outings with losses to North Carolina, UConn and Oklahoma. the Seahawks are 4-3 in their last seven, falling to Charleston, William & Mary and Hofstra.

Last Thursday versus Monmouth, the Seahawks were ahead 29-22 by halftime. UNC Wilmington had to scramble on a 27-23 second-half deficit but still won 52-49. Tan White led the team with 16 points and three boards.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll probably stick with UNC Wilmington. This is something of a weird matchup though, so I’m probably not touching it. Both of these teams had trouble with a struggling Monmouth squad in their last appearances, but UNC Wilmington got the win to preserve their current 3-2 run. The Seahawks haven’t been scoring very well lately, though; they’ve failed to hit 70 points in seven straight outings. The Seahawks won 66-61 the last time these teams met back on January 7, and with the familiar surroundings of Trask I like UNC Wilmington to win/cover again.
