The Air Force Falcons and the UNLV Runnin’ Rebels meet Tuesday in college basketball action from Thomas & Mack Center. Air Force is sitting at 10-11 this year. The Falcons lost to New Mexico over the weekend. As for UNLV, they’re currently 13-10 and lost to Utah State in their last appearance. Air Force rolled to a 7-1 start this year but they haven’t won consecutive games since then. The Falcons last won over San Jose State back on January 25. It’s been losses to Wyoming, Utah State and New Mexico in the three games since.
Matched up against New Mexico on Saturday, the Falcons were outscored 30-43 in teh first half and 47-48 in the second for a 91-77 defeat. Jake Heidbreder led the team on 20 points with six rebounds, and AJ Walker added 18 points.
Over on the UNLV side, they began the year at 10-8, riding through a couple of postponement breaks along the way. It’s been a 3-2 run since. The Rebels have wins over San Jose State, Colorado State and Nevada mixed with losses to San Diego State and Utah State in that time.
On Saturday versus Utah State, the Rebels gave up 40 points in the first half and 50 more after the break in a 90-75 defeat. Bryce Hamilton was the leading contributor for the Rebels on 33 points, five rebounds and three assists.
The Rebels are 4-1-1 ATS in their last six Tuesday games and 12-25 ATS in their last 37 overall. The under is 4-1 in UNLV’s last five at home.
Meanwhile, the Falcons are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 overall and 5-2 ATS in their last seven after a straight-up loss. The under is 4-1 in Air Force’s last five overall.
PICK: I’m probably going to go with UNLV. The Rebels played a tough road game versus Utah State over the weekend, surrendering a season-high in points. UNLV is generally a good offensive team this year, though; they’ve hit 69 or more in three straight games. As for Air Force, they’re not really known for scoring this year. The Falcons have been under 64 points in three of the last four.
The last time these teams met up was a 69-62 win at home for Air Force. I like UNLV to get some revenge this time and bang out a cover. Should be a fun game to check out.
