The San Diego Toreros and the Utah State Aggies meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Smith Spectrum. San Diego is coming off a loss to Stanford on Sunday that dropped the team to 6-3 overall. As for 7-1 Utah State, they’ve won six straight games, most recently over UC Irvine. Let’s get into our San Diego vs. Utah State prediction. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.
San Diego Toreros
The Toreros were able to win five of their first six outings this year, taking out Sonoma State, Jackson State, Le Moyne, Navy and Arkansas State in those games. After a loss to Hawaii, San Diego came back with a 74-72 win over Northern Colorado. The Toreros posted a 43-33 rebounding edge in that victory.
In their latest matchup versus Stanford, the Toreros fell back into the loss column in a blowout. San Diego was down 43-27 by the break and didn’t get any closer in an 88-64 result. Deuce Turner led the way in the losing effort with 12 options, three rebounds and two assists off the bench.

Utah State Aggies
The Aggies have just one loss to Bradley 72-66 in overtime this year. Utah State otherwise toppled South Dakota Mines, Southern Utah, Marshall, Akron, Stephen F. Austin and Saint Louis in their first seven games. In the 81-76 win over the Billikens, the Aggies hit a nice 57.4 percent from the field with a 35-25 rebounding edge.
Utah State was able to keep it going in their last matchup against UC Irvine. The Aggies held a one-point lead going into the second half, then hit a 37-28 run from there in a 79-69 win. Mason Falslev was the leading scorer with 19 points and five rebounds, while Great Osobor chipped in 17 points.
ANDREW’S FREE SAN DIEGO VS UTAH STATE PREDICTION
I’ll stay with the Aggies. Utah State shot 50.8 percent from the field with 33 rebounds and 16 team assists in another nice performance versus UC Irvine in their latest win. The Aggies are on a nice scoring run during this six-game win streak, hitting 79 or more points in five of those outings.
As for San Diego, they didn’t play their greatest basketball in the loss to Stanford. The Toreros started especially slow in the first half and ended up surrendering 53.4 percent from the field. If San Diego is that permissive in this one, I don’t think they’ll get close enough to cover versus Utah State.
