UTSA posted a decent 6-4 run to start the season. The Roadrunners haven’t been able to find much success since then with a 1-7 stretch, however. In the last four games UTSA has lost to Southern Miss, Louisiana Tech, Old Dominion and Charlotte.

matched up against Charlotte on Saturday, the Roadrunners posted just 22 first-half points and 31 more from there in a 62-53 loss. Leading the way was Christian Tucker, the only team player in double-digits with 10 points and two rebounds.

Over on the UTEP side, their year began at a reasonable 7-4. Similarly the Miners have struggled in recent games; they’ve hit a 2-4 run. The losses were to Bradley, UAB, LA Tech and Charlotte; the wins came versus Southern Miss and Old Dominion.

In the Old Dominion game Saturday, the Miners kept the pace the whole way and needed overtime to decide a victor. After a 15-7 edge in the extra period, UTEP won 78-70. Souley Boum topped the team with 28 points and five assists.

UTEP is 0-4 ATS in their last four Thursday games and 1-5 ATS in their last six at home. The Miners are 2-6 ATS in their last eight overall.
Meanwhile, the Roadrunners are 2-5 ATS in their last seven Thursday games and 9-25 ATS in their last 34 road games. UTSA is 1-6 ATS in their last seven overall.

PICK: I’m staying with UTEP I suppose. There’s not a lot of intrigue here, though; both teams are struggling lately. The Miners have been spotty at scoring during this 2-4 run, but the good news is that they’ve hit 78 or more in two of their last three outings. As for UTSA, they’ve been at 63 points or below in each of their last three. A lot of different things could happen here, but UTEP seems to make more sense on a cover.
