The Boston College Eagles and the Virginia Cavaliers meet Saturday in college basketball action from John Paul Jones Arena. Boston College is fresh off a Wednesday matchup versus Louisville. In that one the Eagles posted a 10-point victory. As for Virginia, they’re sitting at 15-3 overall after a win over Wake Forest last weekend. Boston College Eagles

Boston College posted an 8-8 run through 16 games, losing to Maine, Tarleton State, Nebraska, Duke, New Hampshire, Villanova, Syracuse and Duke in that time. The Eagles would lose their next three to Miami-FL, Wake Forest and North Carolina before a win over Notre Dame.

On Wednesday versus Louisville, Boston College got into some trouble with a 35-29 halftime deficit. The Eagles fought back with 46 second-half points and took the win 75-65. Quinten Post led the team on 22 points.

Virginia Cavaliers

Over on the Virginia side, they were a solid 12-3 through 15 games with losses to Houston, Miami-FL and Pittsburgh It’s been a 3-0 run since then for the Cavaliers with wins over Florida State, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.

In the Wake Forest game, the Cavaliers were up 42-32 going into the second half. Virginia scored another 34 points from there and won it 76-67. Leading the way was Armaan Franklin with 25 points and 10 rebounds.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I think I’ll stick with Virginia. The Cavaliers have won five straight games since the Pittsburgh loss back on January 3, taking out Syracuse, North Carolina, Florida State, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest. Virginia has scored 65 or more points in eight straight games and should notch a good total in this one as well if they get off to a quick start. Boston College has notched a few solid outings here and there against stout competition lately, but I don’t think they’ll keep pace in a road matchup against the Cavaliers.
