Maryland Eastern Shore went just 1-3 over their first four outings this year. The Hawks lost to Old Dominion in their opener, then got a win over Bryn Athyn 90-43. The next two games were losses to Charlotte 80-47 and George Washington 69-64.

In Tuesday’s matchup versus Marist, MD Eastern Shore was able to get back into the win column. The Hawks scored 32 points in the second half on the way to a 70-59 win. Tops in scoring was Nathaniel Pollard with 20 points and eight boards.

Over on the Virginia side, it’s been smooth sailing through four games so far. The Cavaliers opened up with a win over NC Central, then took out Monmouth. After a cancellation versus Northern Iowa, Virginia took out Baylor 86-79 last Friday.

On Sunday versus Illinois, Virginia kept it going with a nice road victory. The Cavaliers were down 31-29 by halftime, but roared back for a 41-30 run and a 70-61 win. Reece Beekman put up 17 points with four rebounds to lead the way.

PICK: I’m probably going to stick with Virginia. Also probably not touching it, though; this line will be thick pretty much everywhere. The Cavaliers are doing a great job so far, and they’ve taken out tough ranked opponents in each of their last two outings. Virginia shot 41.7 percent from the floor versus Illinois, bagging 37 rebounds and 10 team assists along the way. The Cavaliers have hit 70 or more points in each game this year, and should be able to hang a ton on MD Eastern Shore in this matchup.
