The Seton Hall Pirates and the Washington State Cougars meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Lahaina Civic Center. Here’s a Washington State vs Seton Hall prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Washington State vs Seton Hall pick.
Seton Hall Pirates Betting Preview
The Pirates got off to a great start this year, only picking up a lone blemish on their record in their seventh game on Tuesday. Seton Hall kicked things off with a blowout win over Saint Peter’s, then got by Wagner by a seven-point margin. The Pirates would then power past Fairfield and Monmouth in the next pair before blowing out New Haven on November 18. Back on Monday Seton Hall took out NC State 85-74 but then lost a tough game versus USC the next day. Overall that gives the Pirates a 6-1 record so far this season across seven outings.
In Tuesday’s matchup with USC, the Pirates opened with a 42-38 advantage in the first half. Seton Hall was outscored 45-39 the rest of the way however, leading to a rough outcome 83-81 in the end. Leading the team in scoring during the futile effort was Adam Clark with 18 points, seven assists and two rebounds in 36 minutes of game time. AJ Staton-McCray added 17 points with two rebounds and two assists, while Mike Williams chipped in with 13 points in 16 minutes of work on the floor in the loss.
Washington State Cougars Betting Preview
Over on the Washington State side, they’ve had a pretty shaky run thus far. The Cougars opened up the year with two consecutive losses to Idaho and Davidson, but then got their first win of the season versus St. Thomas Minnesota. Another loss to Washington followed after that, then consecutive wins over Southern Utah and Chaminade. The Cougars fell in a close one versus Arizona on Tuesday, dropping their record to just 3-4 through seven games this season.
In Tuesday’s matchup versus Arizona State, Washington State was looking pretty good after the first half with a 48-43 lead. The Cougars lost steam in the second half however, and ended up with a 100-94 loss after a 58-46 run following the break. Aaron Glass went off for 40 points, three rebounds and two assists in the losing effort, and Eemeli Yalaho added 12 points with four rebounds and one assist. Tomas Valur Prastarson had 11 points with a couple of rebounds in the losing effort as well.
Washington State vs Seton Hall Prediction
I might just take a stab on Seton Hall here. Depending on the line you could certainly make an argument either way, though. If both teams play to their capabilities we’ll have another fun matchup. In any case, the Pirates lost a tough one on Tuesday versus a good USC team, shooting a nice 56.1 percent from the field with just nine turnovers and a 36-30 advantage on points in the paint. Seton Hall was sorely lacking on the boards though, notching a 33-18 deficit (10-3 offensive) and they missed six of their 18 free throw attempts (66.7 percent). Add in a nice night at the line (31-of-38 for 81.6 percent) and from 3-point range (6-of-12 for 50 percent) by the Trojans and you can get a feel for why the Pirates took the L on Tuesday. Still, Seton Hall has been chugging along pretty well so far this season (outside of the too-close 68-61 win over Wagner on November 7). They’ve got 68 or more points in every game so far, but getting a victory here will likely take a few more than that. Washington State can score pretty well when they’re so motivated this season (outside of a couple of sub-70 performances) so we should have a decent total as well.
