Miami-OH RedHawks

The RedHawks posted a .500 record through their first 18 games. Since then Miami-OH is just 3-4, however. The wins in that time have come versus Akron, Kent State and Ball State. The losses otherwise were to Central Michigan, Ohio, Northern Illinois and Georgia State.

Matched up against Ball State on Saturday, the RedHawks took a one-point lead into the second half. Miami-OH finished off on a 50-30 run and powered out the win 80-59. Tops in scoring was Eian Elmer with 18 points, three rebounds and two steals in 27 minutes.

Western Michigan Broncos

Over on the Broncos’ side, they were sitting at 7-9 back on January 13 but have only won one of nine since then. The losses came versus Akron, Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Toledo, Ball State, Kent State, Southern Miss and Central Michigan (with a lone win over Eastern Michigan).

In their latest outing on Saturday versus Central Michigan, the Broncos were outmatched. Western Michigan was outscored 40-21 in the first half alone, and limped to a 69-42 finish with 21 more points from there B. Artis White was the only double-digit scorer with 12 points and three rebounds.

ANDREW’S FREE MIAMI-OH VS WESTERN MICHIGAN PREDICTION

I’ll stick with Miami-OH. Probably not touching this one, though; there’s not a lot of intrigue here. That said, the RedHawks played well against Ball State in their last game, hitting 51.7 percent from the floor with 34 rebounds and 21 team assists. It was a much-needed offensive outing as Miami-OH hadn’t hit 70 points in any of the previous three games (all losses).

These teams last saw each other on January 2 in an 83-74 home loss for Miami-OH. Both teams shot over 41 percent in that one but the RedHawks got outmuscled on the boards 40-27. They’ll need a much better all-around effort in this one but I think Miami-OH is up for it.
