The Alcorn State Braves and the Wichita State Shockers meet Tuesday in college basketball action from Charles Koch Arena. Alcorn State is 1-7 on the year so far. The Braves lost to Houston in their last game. As for Wichita State, they’re 7-2 and fresh off a win over Norfolk State. Alcorn State has just one win so far, a four-point victory over Milwaukee on November 28. Otherwise it’s been losses to Washington State, Seattle, Portland, Gonzaga, Southern IL, Tulane and Houston.

Last Monday versus Houston, the Braves fell way behind in the first half 39-19. Alcorn State stumbled to a 77-45 loss from there. Nobody on the team hit double-figure points, but Dominic Brewton led the way on eight points and four boards.

Over on the Wichita State side, their losses came to Arizona (by four) and Kansas State (by six). The Shockers’ wins have been over Jacksonville State, South Alabama, Tarleton State, UNLV, Missouri, Oklahoma State and Norfolk State.

Back on Saturday versus Norfolk State, the Shockers scored 29 points in the first half and 42 more in the second on the way to the 71-58 win. Both Morris Udeze and Tyson Etienne scored 16 points apiece, combining for nine rebounds as well.

The Shockers are 1-4 ATS in their last five at home and 18-7-1 ATS in their last 26 Tuesday games. The under is 4-0 in Wichita State’s last four overall.

Meanwhile, the Braves are 12-3-1 ATS in their last 16 road games and 7-1 ATS in their last eight overall. The under is 6-1 in Alcorn State’s last seven overall.

PICK: I’m going to stay with Wichita State. It took the Shockers a while to get going against Norfolk State in their last outing, but everything turned out well. Wichita State shot 45.5 percent from the field in that one with 34 rebounds and 18 assists.

As for Alcorn State, they’ve been really close in a few games but just haven’t been able to compete late and close it out. I don’t think the Braves will get close in this one, though; it looks like a Wichita State cover if the Shockers play well.
