William & Mary vs UNC Wilmington College Basketball Picks, Odds, Predictions 3/6/21

The UNC Wilmington Seahawks and the William & Mary Tribe meet Saturday in college basketball action from Atlantic Union Bank Center.

Coming into this CAA Tournament matchup, UNC Wilmington sits at 7-9 on the year. The Seahawks have lost four straight, most recently to Elon. As for the Tribe, they’re 6-9 this season. William & Mary has lost two consecutive games, also to Elon. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

UNC Wilmington opened up the year with a 6-3 record, but then had a near month-long break due to cancellations. The Seahawks would come back to a 1-5 stretch, then another string of postponements. In their last game, UNCW fell by three to Elon.

In the 80-77 loss to Elon last weekend, UNC Wilmington’s Joe Pridgen led the team on 21 points with six rebounds and one assist. Ty Gadsden added 20 points with four rebounds, and Mike Okauru had 12 points with six rebounds and three assists.

Over on the William & Mary side, their year started out sketchy at 3-5, then came a 3-2 stretch and a slew of cancellations/postponements. The Tribe’s last two games were February 20 and 22 versus Elon. William & Mary lost both of those.

In the 73-54 loss to Elon on February 22, the Tribe’s top scorer was Luke Loewe with 15 points and four boards. Yuri Covington added 13 points with three rebounds, and Quinn Blair had 12 points with three boards.

William & Mary are 0-4 ATS in their last four neutral-site games and 3-7-1 ATS in their last 11 after an ATS loss. The Tribe are 5-1 ATS in their last six after a straight-up loss and the under is 5-1 in their last six after an ATS loss.

Meanwhile, the over is 5-1 in the Seahawks’ last six overall and 6-0 in their last six after a straight-up loss. UNCW is 2-5 ATS in their last seven Saturday games and 0-4 ATS in their last four overall.

PICK: I’m going to stick with UNC Wilmington. This is probably one to stay away from, however; neither of these teams has played much lately so it’s tough to know what to expect. In any case, the Seahawks’ recent record looks ugly, but the good news is they’ve been scoring well with 73 or more in three straight games. If UNCW can keep things in control on the defensive end here, I think they’ve got a good shot at a cover.
