Elon Phoenix

It’s been a rough run for Elon. The Phoenix went just 5-19 over their first 24 games and they’re a sketchy 3-4 over the last seven. The losses in that time came versus NC A&T, Charleston, William & Mary and Delaware. The wins were over William & Mary, Hampton and Monmouth.

In the Delaware matchup last Saturday, Elon was within three points 34-31 at the break. The Phoenix were outscored 36-23 from there however and lost 70-54. Sean Halloran led the team on 15 points with two rebounds.

William & Mary Tribe

Over on the William & Mary side, they hit a 9-15 run through their first 24 outings this year. The Tribe are also 3-4 in their last seven outings, falling to UNC Wilmington, Elon, Stony Brook and Northeastern alongside wins over Towson, Elon and Monmouth.

Last Saturday matched up versus Monmouth, the Tribe held a slim 39-38 edge in the locker room. William & Mary posted a 35-24 run in the second half and took a win 74-62. Both Chris Mullins and Miguel Ayesa topped the team on 15 points each.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll take a stab on William & Mary here. You could make a case either way, though. This will be the third time these teams have played each other since February 11; the home team won both times. Elon took the February 11 win 66-55 and William & Mary had a 73-60 victory on February 23. The Tribe have scored 66 or more points in four of their last five outings and a combined 147 in their last pair. Elon has just 114 combined in their last two games, so if William & Mary can find a good offensive rhythm early I think they’ll be okay.
