Wyoming vs Fresno State 3/5/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Fresno State Bulldogs and the Wyoming Cowboys meet Saturday in college basketball action from Arena-Auditorium. Fresno State is coming off a Thursday matchup versus San Diego State. In that one, the Bulldogs lost by a single point in double overtime. As for Wyoming, they’re currently 23-7 overall and coming off a loss to UNLV. Fresno State was 16-6 in early February, then took a four-game losing streak to Wyoming, Colorado State, UNLV and San Diego State. The Bulldogs would bounce back in the next pair with wins over Air Force and New Mexico. 

On Thursday in the San Diego State game, the Bulldogs came back from a three-point halftime deficit to force two overtime periods. At the final buzzer, Fresno State had a tough 65-64 loss. Jordan Campbell scored 19 points, and Orlando Robinson doubled on 17 points and 11 boards.

Over on the Wyoming side, they were sitting at 21-3 early last month. It’s been a sketchy 2-4 run since then. Wyoming has wins over Air Force and Nevada mixed with losses to New Mexico, Colorado State, San Diego State and UNLV in that time. 

Matched up against UNLV on Wednesday, the Cowboys were down by just one point at the break. Wyoming was outscored 28-34 in the second half for a 64-57 defeat. Hunter Maldonado led the team on 22 points with 10 boards and seven assists. 

Wyoming is 6-2-1 ATS in their last nine Saturday games and 1-4 ATS in their last five after a straight-up loss. The under is 5-2 in the Cowboys’ last seven overall.
Meanwhile, the Bulldogs are 3-1-1 ATS in their last five road games and 2-5 ATS in their last seven overall. The under is 4-1 in Fresno State’s last five road games. 

PICK: I’m going to try Wyoming in this one. Probably not going near it, though; there’s no telling what could happen here. Wyoming hasn’t looked great during this 2-4 run. They’ve hit 66 or fewer points in each of their four losses in that time. The good news is that Wyoming pulled off a 61-59 road win the last time these teams met up on February 6. Something tells me this rematch will be dicey, but I still feel better about Wyoming on a potential cover.
