ACC: Miami-FL vs North Carolina 10/8/22 College Football Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Miami Hurricanes and North Carolina Tar Heels clash Saturday in a week 6 ACC college football game from Hard Rock Stadium. North Carolina is fresh off a game versus Virginia Tech. In that one the Tar Heels took a 31-point blowout win. As for Miami, they’re coming off of an open week. The Hurricanes last took a loss to Middle Tennessee. The Tar Heels took on Florida A&M in their first game of the year, rolling to a 56-24 win. North Carolina eked out a high-scoring victory 63-61 over App State in game two, then beat Georgia State 35-28. The Tar Heels took their first loss to Notre Dame 45-32 in game four. 

On Saturday versus Virginia Tech, the Tar Heels scored 17 points in both the second and third quarters in a 41-10 win. QB Drake Maye finished with 363 yards and three scores while also leading the rush with 73 yards and two touchdowns from 13 carries.

Over on the Miami side, their year began with a pretty easy win 70-13 over Bethune-Cookman. The Hurricanes would keep it going with a 30-7 win over Southern Miss, then they suffered their first loss of the year with a 17-9 result versus Texas A&M. 

Miami had another rough outing versus Middle Tennessee in game four. The Hurricanes were down 17-3 after the first quarter and couldn’t catch up in a 45-31 defeat. QB Tyler Van Dyke put up 138 yards, one TD and two picks. Keyshawn Smith led the receivers with 81 yards on four catches. 

PICK: I’m probably going with North Carolina. The Tar Heels did very well versus Virginia Tech over the weekend, notching 527 yards of offense and 24 first downs. Defensively, North Carolina held the Hokies to 273 yards, 3.9 yards per play and 14 first downs overall. 

As for Miami, the extra week of has probably done the team some good—and they’ve needed it. The Hurricanes gave up 507 yards of offense and three turnovers in the Middle Tennessee loss, notching a spotty 4.1 yards per play and 7-of-20 on third-down tries. It’ll be interesting to see if they can bounce back in this one.
