The Texas State Bobcats and the Arkansas State Red Wolves meet Saturday in college football action from Centennial Bank Stadium. Here’s an Arkansas State vs Texas State prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Arkansas State vs Texas State pick.

Texas State Bobcats Betting Preview

Texas State has a quartet of games in the books so far this year, powering out a 3-1 record along the way. The Bobcats opened things up with a blowout win over Eastern Michigan 52-27, then got past UTSA on the road 43-36 in game two. The Arizona State matchup was Texas State’s first loss of the year, as they’d fall 34-15 following 17 unanswered points in the second quarter. Texas State lost a couple of fumbles and averaged a tepid 3.9 yards per play in the defeat while the defense gave up 245 rushing yards on the other side.

Texas State was able to get back on track in a pretty routine matchup versus Nicholls State on September 20 in their most recent appearance. The Bobcats were up 28-3 by halftime and tacked on another TD in the second half in a 35-3 win. QB Brad Jackson was 13-of-20 for 180 yards in the victory, adding two rushing TDs along the way. Lincoln Pare was the team’s top runner, carrying 15 times for 64 yards and a score of his own. Leading the receivers was Kylen Evans with four grabs for 88 yards.

Arkansas State Red Wolves Betting Preview

Over on the Red Wolves’ side, they’ve managed to play five games so far this season. Arkansas State opened up with a 42-24 blowout win over Southeast Missouri State, but then fell to Arkansas 56-14 in their second outing of the year. Arkansas State would fall again versus Iowa State 24-16, then lost to Kennesaw State in a tough one 28-21 back on September 20. The Red Wolves gave up 21 points in the first quarter alone and couldn’t make the comeback despite a 21-7 advantage the rest of the way. The Arkansas State defense recovered three fumbles but also surrendered 497 total yards (308 passing) and 30 first downs in the loss.

In their latest outing versus Louisiana-Monroe last weekend, the Red Wolves jumped out to a 10-0 lead after one quarter but had lost it by halftime. When the dust eventually settled Arkansas State had a 28-16 loss. QB Jaylen Raynor finished 29-of-46 for 288 yards and an interception. Tops in rushing was Devin Spencer with seven totes for 23 yards, and Chauncy Cobb added eight catches for 126 yards. Corey Rucker had a nice day receiving as well, notching nine catches for 120 yards in the defeat.

Arkansas State vs Texas State Prediction.

I’m probably going to stay with Texas State. The Bobcats have had a bit of extra time to rest and prep for this one, so they should be in good shape. The Nicholls State game wasn’t too difficult for Texas State, as they’d rack up 401 total yards (207 rushing), 5.8 yards per play, 25 first downs and a nice 11-of-14 success rate on third-down tries. Defensively Texas State gave up just 224 yards (97 passing) and 3.5 yards per play. That gives the Bobcats 35 or more points in each of their three wins this season so far. If Texas State can keep that run going, it’ll be tough for Arkansas State to maintain a cover pace here.

Speaking of Arkansas State, they had some bright spots on offense in their loss to Louisiana-Monroe last weekend but the two turnovers, 17 rush yards and 4-of-15 success rate on third downs helped bury their scoring efforts. The Red Wolves have been below 22 points in four straight games, and below 17 points in three of those.
