The Army Black Knights and Colgate Raiders clash Saturday in week 7 college football action from Michie Stadium. Colgate is sitting at 1-4 so far this year. The Raiders are coming off an open week. As for Army, they just finished up against Wake Forest. In that one the Knights took a blowout loss. Check back all season long for free college football picks at Sports Chat Place.

Colgate began their year with a 41-10 blowout loss at the hands of Stanford, but the team bounced back with a 21-18 win over Maine the next week. The Raiders hit the skids after that, losing 25-14 to Penn and 35-10 to Holy Cross in their next pair.

In their most receding game versus Cornell, the Raiders took another loss. Colgate was outscored 10-0 in the final quarter for a 34-31 loss. QB Michael Brescia finished with 195 yards and a pick, while also leading the rush on 11 carries for 83 yards and a score.

Over on the Knights’ side, they started out the year with a couple of losses 38-28 to Coastal Carolina and 41-38 in OT to UTSA. The Knights got a win over Villanova 49-10, then fell again to Georgia State 31-14 to move to 1-3 on the year.

In the Wake Forest matchup back on Saturday, the Knights were down 38-0 by the fourth quarter and finished with a 45-10 blowout loss. QB Jemel Jones managed 100 yards and a TD off four completed passes, and Ay’Juan Marshall led the rush with 44 yards from three totes.

PICK: I’m probably going to take a stab on Army, but staying away. The Knights couldn’t do much against a good Wake Forest team over the weekend, giving up 488 yards, 7.6 yards per play and 26 first downs. On the other side the Knights posted 407 yards of offense but also had a couple of turnovers and a relatively paltry 5.5 yards per play.
As for Colgate, they’ve had a few moments so far this year but overall it’s been a disappointment. The Raiders have scored 14 points or fewer in three of their five games so far and probably won’t have a ton of room to work with here either. The extra week off should do Colgate some good, though.
