The Sacramento State Hornets and the Bowling Green Falcons meet Saturday in college football action from Doyt Perry Stadium in Bowling Green. Here’s a Bowling Green vs Sacramento State prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Bowling Green vs Sacramento State pick.
Sacramento State Hornets Betting Preview
The Hornets have had some difficulties scoring this year, and it’s led to a rough 1-4 record overall. First was a 28-17 loss to Eastern Michigan, then a blowout win over Mississippi Valley State 52-0. Game three was a blowout loss however, as the Hornets fell 49-3 to Fresno State. Sacramento State followed that up with a 31-10 loss to North Dakota State next.
Back on September 26 versus UMass, the Hornets were able to muster a couple of field goals in the first half and went into the locker room trailing 21-6. Sacramento State didn’t visit the scoreboard after that however, and ended up losing 35-6 in the end. Hornets QB Jackson Sharman was 24-of-43 for 221 yards and a pick, while Daniel Swinney had nine carries for 35 rush yards.
Bowling Green Falcons Betting Preview
Over on the Bowling Green side, they haven’t had much luck scoring this year either. The Falcons took a 20-13 loss at home versus Tarleton State in their opener, then fell big to Nebraska on the road 56-7. Bowling Green followed that up with two more losses in the next pair, falling to Iowa State then South Florida by scores of 55-7 and 14-6 respectively.
Matched up against Miami-OH last weekend the Falcons finally got into the win column. Bowling Green fought through a wild second quarter to go into the break up 10-6. In the end the Falcons won the game on a late TD 24-20. QB Jay Kastantin was 25-of-37 for 305 yards and two touchdowns. Leo Kemp had three carries for 25 yards and a touchdown rushing.

Bowling Green vs Sacramento State Prediction
I’ll lean toward Sac State but I’m not touching this one. The Hornets held UMass to just 16 first downs and a 3-of-10 success rate on third-down tries in their latest defeat but it was nowhere near good enough to offset the three turnovers on offense and nine team penalties for 85 yards. The Hornets gained 323 yards total and went 6-of-15 on third downs. They’ve had an extra week off to rest and prep for this one, though. That’s the good news.
As for Bowling Green, they were helped out last weekend by Miami-OH’s 12 penalties for 103 yards but they’ll take a win any way they can get it these days. The Falcons managed 367 yards and 22 first downs themselves along with zero turnovers. Still, after scoring 13 or fewer points in four straight games (all losses) before that, I still don’t have a ton of confidence in them right now.
