Colorado State vs Utah State 10/15/22 College Football Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Colorado State Rams and Utah State Aggies clash Saturday in a week 7 MWC college football game from Canvas Stadium.

The Utah State Aggies will look to build on a 34-27 win over Air Force than snapped a four-game losing skid to improve to 2-4 on the year. Logan Bonner has thrown for 753 yards, 6 touchdowns and 8 interceptions on 56.4% passing while Cooper Legas has thrown for 443 yards, 4 touchdowns and 4 picks on 62% passing. Calvin Tyler Jr. has a team-high 505 rushing yards while Robert Briggs has 215 rushing yards. Brian Cobbs has a team-high 36 grabs for 473 receiving yards and 4 touchdowns while Justin McGriff and Terrell Vaughn each have 200+ receiving yards as well this season. On defense, MJ Tafisi has a team-high 54 total tackles while AJ Vongphachanh has 52 total tackles. Utah State’s defense as a whole has combined for 7 sacks and 7 interceptions this season.

The Colorado State Rams will be looking to build on their first win of the season in the form of a 17-14 win over Nevada last time out to improve to 1-4. Clay Millen’s thrown for 667 yards, 5 touchdowns and 4 interceptions on 73.9% passing while Avery Morrow has rushed for a team-high 237 yards this season. Tory Horton leads Colorado State’s receiving group with 32 catches for 491 yards and 5 touchdowns this season. On defense, Jack Howell leads the Rams with 45 total tackles and 3 interceptions while Mohamed Kamara has 4.5 sacks and C.J. Onyechi also has 2.5 sacks this season.

Utah State is 6-1 ATS in their last 7 road games and 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games following an ATS win while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 games against a team with a losing record. Colorado State is 1-10 ATS in their last 11 games overall and 0-5 ATS in their last 5 home games while the under is 10-1 in their last 11 games against a team with a losing record.

I get the case to be made for a home underdog between two subpar teams, but the difference for me here is that Utah State still has a decent team talent-wise, they just ran into an uncharacteristically bad run with an expected loss to Alabama and then following that up with a clunker against Utah State. The Aggies didn’t win, but they did put up respectable performances against UNLV and BYU before stunning Air Force last week and Colorado State is not a team that can take advantage of any deficiencies that Utah State’s defense may have. This is still a Colorado State team that got rung up by Sacramento State and hasn’t scored more than 19 points in a game this season, which is why they rank last in scoring offense in the country. I’ll lay the points as I see the Aggies winning this game by at least two touchdowns.
