The Colorado State Rams and Wyoming Cowboys meet Saturday in week 11 MWC college football action from Sonny Lubick Field at Hughes Stadium. Wyoming is fresh off an open week. The Cowboys last played in a win over Hawaii. As for Colorado State, they took on San Jose State in their last outing. In that one the Rams lost by 12 points. Wyoming went 3-1 over the first four games this year, falling to Illinois then beating Tulsa, Northern Colorado and Air Force. The Cowboys lost to BYU and San Jose State before wins over New Mexico, Utah State and Hawaii.

In the Hawaii matchup back on October 29, the Cowboys trailed early but managed a 13-13 tie by the fourth quarter. Wyoming would eventually power out a 27-20 win. QB Andrew Peasley had 76 yards and two picks; DQ James carried 14 times for 179 yards.

Over on the Colorado State side, they lost their first four games to Michigan, Middle Tennessee, Washington State and Sacramento State before a win over Nevada. The Rams would then lose to Utah State, beat Hawaii and lose to Boise State.

In the San Jose State game, the Rams had a 10-7 lead going into the second half. Colorado State was outscored 21-6 from there in a 28-16 loss. QB Clay Millen put up 261 yards and an interception. Avery Morrow had 124 yards and a TD on 17 carries.

The Cowboys are 5-0 ATS in their last five after an ATS loss and 4-1 ATS in their last five in November. The over is 5-1 in Wyoming’s last six in November.
Meanwhile, the Rams are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 conference games and 3-12 ATS in the last 15 overall. Colorado State is 1-6 ATS in their last seven at home.

PICK: I’m leaning toward the Cowboys but probably not touching it. Wyoming wasn’t exactly dominant through the air in the Hawaii game, posting just 76 pass yards and a spotty 4-of-11 on third downs. The good news is that the Cowboys ran very well (365 yards) and overcame a couple of turnovers to get the win. It wasn’t pretty, but Wyoming should be rested and ready now.

As for Colorado State, they out-gained San Jose State 468-355 and held the Spartans to just 3-of-12 on third downs. Unfortunately the Rams also had two picks and 13 penalties that were pretty costly. Colorado State should clean up their act some here but I don’t think they’ll cover.
