FAU vs Georgia Southern 9/11/21 College Football Picks, Odds, Predictions

The FAU Owls meet the Georgia Southern Eagles in week 2 college football action from FAU Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Georgia Southern Eagles will look to keep the ball rolling after eking out a 30-25 win over Gardner-Webb in their season opener last time out. Cam Ransom threw for 90 yards and a score on 8 of 13 passing while Logan Wright rushed for 178 yards and a touchdown on 26 carries. Jones also rushed for 98 yards in the option offense while Gerald Green had 72 rushing yards and a score. Khaleb Hood led the Eagles with 3 grabs for 39 yards while Jjay Mcafee and Beau Johnson each had 25 receiving yards and Chase Hancock had a touchdown grab for Georgia Southern in the win. Defensively, Anthony Wilson led the Eagles with 6 total tackles including 4 solo tackles while C.J. Wright, Khadry Jackson and AJ Watkins each had a sack as well in the victory for the Eagles.

The FAU Owls will try to rebound from a 35-14 loss at the hands of Florida last time out. N’Kosi Perry led the Owls with 261 passing yards and a touchdown on 19 of 33 passing while Johnny Ford and Malcolm Davidson each had 52 rushing yards with Ford logging a rushing TD as well. D’Marcus Adams had a team-high 85 receiving yards while Brandon Robinson, John Mitchell and Lajohntay Wester each had a team-high 4 catches with Robinson logging 60 receiving yards with a touchdown and Mitchell putting up 51 receiving yards. Defensively, Jordan Helm led the Owls with 11 total tackles including 7 solo tackles while Taja Young and Caliph Brice each had a team-high 10 total tackles with Young and Diashun Moss each logging an interception for FAU’s defense as well.

Georgia Southern is 6-3 ATS in their last 9 games overall and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games as an underdog while the over is 5-2 in their last 7 games overall. FAU is 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games in September and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games played as the favorite while the under is 9-1 in their last 10 week 2 matchups.

I get why this total is where it is, but even close to 50 I think is far too high. We know the gist of the option offense and how it chews up a ton of clock and while FAU had a tough draw with Florida in the opener, this isn’t an FAU team known for scoring tons of points as it is. Give me the under in this one.
