The Tulsa Golden Hurricane and the Florida Atlantic Owls meet Saturday in college football action from FAU Stadium. Here’s a FAU vs Tulsa Prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Florida Atlantic vs Tulsa pick.

Tulsa Golden Hurricane Betting Preview

Tulsa kicked off the season with a sizable win over Abilene Christian, but then fell in their next two outings versus New Mexico State and Navy. The Hurricane rebounded with a win over Oklahoma State after that, then hit the skids with losses to Tulane, Memphis and East Carolina. In the October 16 loss to the Pirates, the Hurricane gave up 568 total yards, 268 rush yards, 6.2 yards per play, 27 first downs and 9-of-18 on third-down tries. Tulsa managed to go just 6-of-19 on third downs with their own offense and 2-of-5 on fourth downs.

The Golden Hurricane were last in action back on October 25 versus Temple. Tulsa had a 17-4 first-half lead but ended up falling 38-37 in overtime at home. The Hurricane got a 19-of-31 line from QB Baylor Hayes with 296 yards and three scores. Tops in rushing during the losing effort was Dominic Richardson with 78 yards and a TD on 19 totes. Josh Smith led the receivers with his four catches for 112 yards.

Florida Atlantic Owls Betting Preview

Over on the Florida Atlantic side, they went just 1-3 in their first four games this year with a lone win over Florida A&M among losses to Maryland, FIU and Memphis. The Owls would then beat Rice and UAB ahead of another loss to South Florida. In the 48-13 road loss to the Bulls, the Owls gave up 522 total yards, 259 rush yards, 6.9 yards per play, 26 first downs and 9-of-18 on third downs. Florida Atlantic’s offense went only 6-of-21 on third downs but did pull off seven of eight on fourth-down tries. The 3.5 yards per play and 23 team rushing yards didn’t help matters, though.

FAU took on Navy on October 25 in their latest outing. The Owls were outscored 21-19 in the fourth quarter during a wild 42-32 loss in the end. QB Caden Veltkamp was 25-of-41 for 299 yards, two scores and a pick, while leading rusher Gemari Sands had 22 yards on seven carries. Jayshon Platt was the top receiver in the Owls’ loss with five catches for 121 yards and a touchdown.

FAU vs Tulsa Prediction

I’ll stick with Tulsa, but in reality I’m probably not touching this one. The Hurricane were able to hang around with a decent Temple team in their last outing but fell just short in the end. Tulsa ended up with 436 total yards, 25 first downs, 5.8 yards per play and 7-of-16 on third downs in the defeat. The defense gave up 447 yards on the other side with a nice 3-of-12 allowed on third downs. Tulsa has scored well over the last couple of games—64 combined points—but they’re also giving up a lot on the other side.

As for FAU, they’ve got a pretty good ceiling but also a pretty low floor. The loss to Navy was the usual recipe: lots of running by the Midshipmen. Navy gained 397 rush yards in that one with 7.3 yards per play and 26 first downs. Meanwhile Florida Atlantic’s offense had three giveaways and just 5-of-18 on third downs themselves. This one could be a fairly high-scoring game if both offenses show up.
