Hawaii vs Nevada 10/16/22 College Football Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Nevada Wolf Pack and the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors meet Saturday in college football action from Clarence TC Ching Athletics Complex. Nevada is coming off a three-point loss to Colorado State back on Friday. As for Hawaii, they played San Diego State in their last game. In that one the Warriors lost a close outcome. Nevada opened the year with a pair of wins, 23-12 over New Mexico State and 38-14 over Texas State. The Wolf Pack would then hit a losing streak to Incarnate Word 55-41, Iowa 27-0 and Air Force 48-20.

In Friday’s matchup versus Colorado State, the Wolf Pack outscored the Rams 7-3 in the fourth quarter but it wasn’t enough in a 17-14 loss. QB Nate Cox put up 244 yards and an interception, while Toa Taua rushed 23 times for 80 yards and two scores.

Over on the Hawaii side, they started out the year on a losing streak. The Warriors fell 63-10 to Vanderbilt, 49-17 to Western Kentucky and 56-10 to Michigan. Hawaii rebounded with a 24-14 win over Duquesne, but then fell 45-26 to New Mexico State.

Matched up against San Diego State on Saturday, Hawaii couldn’t score in the first half and eventually took a tight 16-14 defeat. QB Brayden Schager finished with 196 yards and a touchdown, while Dedrick Parson added 14 carries for 70 yards and a touchdown.

PICK: I’m leaning Hawaii but probably not touching this one. The Warriors didn’t exactly play well versus San Diego State, with 342 total yards, 17 first downs and a 3-of-10 run on third-down tries. That said, if the Warriors can keep the scoreboard from getting out of hand I think they’ve got a solid shot at a cover.

As for Nevada, they’ve been struggling on both sides of the ball over the last three weeks and have been outscored a combined 92-34 during that trio of outings. This game could go a lot of different ways though, so I’m staying away.
