LA Tech vs Southeastern Louisiana 9/11/21 College Football Picks, Odds, Predictions

The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs meet the Southeastern Louisiana Lions Saturday in week 2 college football action from Joe Aillet Stadium. Southeastern Louisiana is coming off an opener game versus North Alabama. In that one, the Lions posted a 21-point win. As for the Bulldogs, they played Mississippi State in their first game. Louisiana Tech took a tough one-point loss in that game. Check back all season long for free college football picks at Sports Chat Place.

Southeastern Louisiana got seven games in this past spring, logging a 4-3 overall record with a 4-2 mark in the Southland Conference. That result left the Lions in second place in the standings behind Sam Houston State.

In the opener game versus North Alabama, Southeastern Louisiana turned a 14-14 halftime tie into a 49-28 victory. Quarterback Cole Kelley notched 263 yards and three touchdowns on 30-of-41 passing, and Taron Jones rushed for 85 yards and a score on 11 carries.

Over on the Louisiana Tech side, they played 10 games last fall, notching a 5-5 overall record and a 4-2 mark in Conference USA play. The Bulldogs finished in third place in the West Division. LA Tech’s season ended on a down note with a loss 38-3 in the New Orleans Bowl, however.

In their first game of the year against Mississippi State, the Bulldogs coughed up 21 points in the fourth quarter on the way to a tough 35-34 defeat. LA Tech QB Austin Kendall put up 269 yards, two TDs and one pick. Jerrod Means led the receivers with two grabs for 94 yards and a score.

PICK: I’m going to take the Lions, but this one could be pretty close. Louisiana Tech had Mississippi State in a 31-14 hole heading into the fourth quarter, but ultimately lost control of the game during a hard-to-swallow loss. The Bulldogs gave up 435 total yards—including 370 passing yards—and 22 first downs to their own 14.

As for Southeastern Louisiana, they had a big second half with 35 points in their win. The Lions had some good offensive balance as well, with three touchdowns passing and three more rushing. I like SE Louisiana to keep it going in a cover here.
