In this article we will formulate a LSU vs Clemson prediction for this College Football game on Saturday, September 5th at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Let’s take a look at the prediction for this Week 1 matchup.
LSU Tigers Betting Preview
The LSU Tigers went 7-6 (3-5) last season and they finished 10th in the SEC standings. LSU started the season with a 17-10 win over Clemson and defeated La Tech 23-7 in their second game. The Tigers started the year with a 5-1 record through six games, but they lost four of their last six regular season games. LSU did make a bowl game, where they lost to Houston by a score of 38-35 in the Texas Bowl. The Tigers had trouble scoring last year, as they scored 23 or fewer in four of their last five games. LSU scored 22.8 points per game in 2025, while they allowed 19.8 points against per game on defense.
This season, LSU will have Lane Kiffin as their head coach, so you never know what you are going to get. The Tigers will have Sam Leavitt starting at quarterback, who transferred from Arizona State. LSU has a ton of talent at wide receiver and the running backs are solid, but the offensive line is a bit of a question mark. On defense, LSU should be fine, but it could take a game or two for that unit to gel.
Clemson Tigers Betting Preview
The Clemson Tigers were 7-6 (4-4) last year and they finished tied for seventh in the ACC standings with four other teams. Clemson started the year with that loss to LSU, but bounced back with a 27-16 win over Troy. The Tigers were just 3-5 through eight games, but they won their last four regular season games. Clemson did make the Pinstripe Bowl, where they lost to Penn State by a score of 22-10. The Tigers scored 27.2 points per game in 2025, while they allowed 20.5 points against per game on defense.
This year, Clemson will start Vizzina at quarterback, but I am not confident he is ready to play at the level the Tigers need. The running backs and receivers are solid, and the offensive line is a strength, so everything is riding on Vizzina. On defense, Clemson should be even better than last year, but they do have a lot of transfers coming in.

LSU vs Clemson Prediction
Both of these teams had disappointing seasons in 2025, so they will be looking to turn things around here. LSU has plenty of hype with Kiffin as the coach and Leavitt is a solid quarterback, but their offensive line could be an issue. Clemson has plenty of talent, but I don’t love their quarterback situation. We saw LSU beat Clemson by seven points last season, but I think the Clemson defense can keep this game close enough. Take the points with Clemson in this one.
