The San Jose State Spartans and the Nevada Wolf Pack meet Saturday in college football action from Mackay Stadium in Reno. Here’s a Nevada vs San Jose State prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Nevada vs San Jose State pick.
San Jose State Spartans Betting Preview
The Spartans have been a mixed bag this year but they’ve managed to stay on the right side of the .500 mark so far. San Jose State opened up at 3-2 with losses to USC and Fresno State mixed among wins over Eastern Michigan, Cal Poly and Hawaii. After a loss to Wyoming and a win over UTEP the Spartans are currently 4-3 through seven games.
In the UTEP matchup last weekend the Spartans were sitting on a 7-0 lead at the break thanks to a first-quarter touchdown. San Jose State got it going in the third quarter and eventually powered out the win 24-11 in the end. QB Daniel Rolovich was 12-of-23 for 193 yards and a TD while Villami Teu carried 20 times for 156 yards and two touchdowns of his own.
Nevada Wolf Pack Betting Preview
Over on the Nevada side, they haven’t had much luck in the win column this year after their opener victory versus Western Kentucky. The Wolf Pack lost to Montana State, Middle Tennessee and Air Force in the next three before another win versus UTEP. After a loss to North Dakota State Nevada is currently 2-4 through their first six games this year.
In the North Dakota State game on Saturday the Wolf Pack jumped out to an 11-0 lead early in the second but then gave up three unanswered touchdowns ahead of the break. Nevada got into the end zone one more time in the third but it wasn’t enough in a 31-17 loss. QB AJ Blanco was 17-of-34 for 190 yards, one TD and two picks in the losing effort for the Wolf Pack.

Nevada vs San Jose State Prediction
I’ll stick with San Jose State I suppose. The Spartans were adequate on offense in the win over UTEP, bagging 17 first downs, 6-of-13 on third-down tries and 426 total yards. San Jose State gave up 27 first downs and 462 yards on defense but did well on third downs (5-of-16). The Spartans have scored 24 or fewer points in four straight games (a 2-2 run) so I’d like to see them score well here.
As for Nevada, they posted two picks, 15 first downs, 6-of-14 on third-down tries and just 21:51 in time of possession during their loss to North Dakota State. The Wolf Pack have 30 or more points in three games this year and 20 or fewer in the other three so it’s hard telling what they’ll look like in this one.
