New Mexico vs UNLV Prediction
I’m staying with New Mexico. The Lobos are coming off a 28-point road win over a struggling Nevada team, posting 20 first downs, 9-of-16 on third downs and 374 yards (213 rushing) on offense. The D gave up just six first downs, 2-of-15 on third downs and 97 total yards (negative-nine rushing) in a stellar display. The Lobos defense has been going off during this six-game win streak, and they’ve surrendered fewer than 19 points in every game so far this year. New Mexico is morphing into a formidable opponent to pretty much everyone.
As for UNLV, they posted a six-point loss to a pretty decent Wyoming team last weekend. The Rebels gave up 483 yards in that one, including a whopping 351 on the ground. UNLV’s offense couldn’t keep pace in the end on just 14 first downs and 304 total yards with two picks. The Rebels have given up 41 or more points in three of their four losses so they need to keep New Mexico in check here if at all possible. I don’t think they’ll be able to pull it off.

UNLV Runnin’ Rebels Betting Preview
This year the Rebels opened things up with a 1-2 run, beating Hawaii in between losses to Memphis and North Texas. UNLV would then hit a 4-1 run over the next five outings, though. The lone loss was 41-31 versus Air Force. Otherwise it was wins over Akron, California, North Dakota State and Northern Illinois. Over the first eight games of the year that gave the team a 5-3 record in the books for their troubles.
Last weekend versus Wyoming, the Rebels scored a couple of touchdowns during a wild second quarter but still trailed at the break 34-21. UNLV scored two more times in the second half but it wasn’t enough in a 41-35 loss. QB Jackson Arnold was 7-of-18 for 83 yards, two TDs and one pick. Jai’Den Thomas rushed 16 times for 96 yards and two scores. Leading the receivers in the losing effort for the Rebels was Tavian McNair with two grabs for 51 yards. Taz Reddicks was close behind on four catches for 41 yards and a score.
New Mexico Lobos Betting Preview
Over on the New Mexico side, they beat Central Michigan and Mercyhurst in their first two outings this year before taking their first (and only) loss to Oklahoma 14-6. Since then the Lobos have rattled off six straight wins, beating New Mexico State, UTEP, Hawaii, North Dakota State, San Jose State and Nevada in succession. In nine games so far this year that gives New Mexico a nice 8-1 record.
Matched up against Nevada last Friday the Lobos bagged a couple of first-quarter touchdowns on the way to a 14-3 halftime edge. New Mexico rolled in the second half with a couple more trips to the end zone and eventually won 31-3 in the end. QB To a Fa’avae was 14-of-20 for 150 yards and a TD while Scottre Humphrey carried 17 times for 107 yards and a pair of scores. Tops in receiving was Cade Keith with four catches for 63 yards and a TD.
