North Texas vs Liberty 10/23/21 College Football Picks, Odds, Predictions

The North Texas Mean Green meet the Liberty Flames on Saturday in week 8 college football action from Apogee Stadium.

The Liberty Flames come into this one looking to shake off arguably the upset of the year, with Louisiana-Monroe taking down the Flames 31-28 in last week’s matchup. Malik Willis has thrown for 1,462 yards, 14 touchdowns and 5 interceptions on 66.1% passing while also leading the Flames with 655 rushing yards and 9 TDs this season. Joshua Mack, T.J. Green and Shedro Louis each have 200+ rushing yards this season as well. Demario Douglas leads Liberty’s receiving group with 33 grabs for 526 yards and 4 touchdowns while CJ Daniels has 282 yards and a team-high 5 scores. On defense, Storey Jackson leads Liberty with 52 total tackles along with 3 sacks while Kendy Charles has a team-high 4.5 sacks and Ralks Rusins has a team-high 3 sacks this year.

The North Texas Mean Green will be out to bounce back from ending up on the wrong end of a 49-21 loss at the hands of Marshall last time out. Austin Aune has thrown for 639 yards with 5 TDs and 4 interceptions while Jace Ruder’s tossed for 557 yards and 3 TDs with 5 picks. DeAndre Torrey leads North Texas with 780 rushing yards and 6 touchdowns on the ground while Roderic Burns leads North Texas in receiving with 34 grabs for 395 yards and a pair of touchdowns this season. Defensively, KD Davis leads North Texas with 54 total tackles while four different North Texas defenders have two sacks this season.

Liberty is 12-2 ATS in their last 14 non-conference games and 8-1 ATS in their last 9 games against a team with a losing record while the under is 5-2 in their last 7 non-conference games. North Texas is 9-25 ATS in their last 34 games overall and 22-47-1 ATS in their last 70 games against a team with a winning record while the over is 5-1 in their last 6 games as a home underdog.

Normally, if a team like Liberty lost to Louisiana-Monroe like they did, I’d be off of them so quick your head would spin because a loss like that to me is unacceptable. However, Liberty had a chance to really make some noise this season and the loss to ULM overshadows a lot of what they’ve done. I think you’re going to see Liberty come out with a purpose in this game and for North Texas, it’s simply a case of wrong place wrong time as Liberty comes out firing from the opening kickoff. Give me Liberty and lay the points.
