Ohio vs Georgia Southern Prediction Football Picks 12-16-23

The Georgia Southern Eagles and the Ohio Bobcats meet Saturday in Myrtle Beach Bowl college football action from Brooks Stadium. Georgia Southern is sitting on a four-game losing streak at 6-6 overall. The Eagles fell to Appalachian State in their last game. As for Ohio, they’re 9-3 on the year after an 11-point win versus Akron back on November 24. Let’s get into our Georgia Southern vs. Ohio prediction. Georgia Southern Eagles

Georgia Southern got off to a nice start this year at 6-2, losing to only Wisconsin and James Madison in that stretch. It’s been a tough run since then however, as the Eagles have fallen to Texas State, Marshall, Old Dominion and Appalachian State in their last quartet.

In the matchup versus Appalachian State on November 25, the Eagles had an early 14-3 lead but then gave up double-digit points in the final three quarters during a 55-27 blowout loss. QB Davis Brin finished with 238 yards and three picks, while OJ Arnold led the rush on 58 yards and a score. Khaleb Hood caught 10 balls for 95 yards and a TD as well.

Ohio Bobcats

Over on the Bobcats’ side, they’ve only recorded losses to San Diego State (in the opener), Northern Illinois and Miami-OH this year. Ohio is averaging 22.9 points per game thanks to 32 total touchdowns. The Bobcats averaged 210.6 yards per game through the air with 15 scores and nine picks, alongside 137.1 rush yards per game and 14 scores.

Ohio’s most recent matchup with Akron went pretty well after the break. The Bobcats were down 14-3 by halftime but ended up coming back for a 25-14 victory. QB Kurtis Rourke managed 208 yards with a score. Sieh Bangura added 121 rush yards and a TD of his own, while Miles Cross put up seven catches for 103 yards and a touchdown.

ANDREW’S FREE GEORGIA SOUTHERN VS OHIO PREDICTION

I’ll stick with Ohio. The Bobcats have been quite solid on defense for most of the year, which has made up for an erratic offense on the other side. Ohio hasn’t cracked 25 points in five of their last six games, however they’ve held opponents to 20 or fewer points in four of the last five. It’s going to be tough for Georgia Southern to find much room here.

Speaking of Georgia Southern, they’ll likely be passing quite a bit here; the Eagles average 298.3 yards per game through the air with 24 touchdowns. It’ll be a high-risk scenario though, as Georgia Southern also has 17 interceptions. Ultimately I like Ohio to keep Georgia Southern in check and bang out a cover here.
