The Stanford Cardinal and Oregon State Beavers clash Saturday in a week 6 PAC-12 college football game from Stanford Stadium. Oregon State is coming off a matchup versus Utah. In that one the Beavers fell in a blowout. As for Stanford, they played Oregon in their last game. The Cardinal lost their matchup in a blowout as well. Oregon State’s season began with a 34-17 win over Boise State and a close 35-32 victory versus Fresno State in week two. The Beavers didn’t have any problem with Montana State in a 68-28 win, but Oregon State lost to USC 17-14 the next week in a tough result.

In the Utah game, Oregon State kept decent pace in the first half with a 21-13 deficit but eventually folded in a 42-16 loss. QB Ben Gulbranson posted 177 yards with two picks, and Deshaun Fenwick led the rushers on 44 yards from 10 carries.

Over on the Stanford side, they beat Colgate 41-10 in their first game of the year. That would mark the beginning of a tough stretch for the team, however. The Cardinal fell in the next pair, 41-28 to USC and 40-22 to Washington for a 1-2 record through three outings.

On Saturday versus Oregon, Stanford was drilled 31-3 in the first half and limped to a 45-27 loss. QB Tanner McKee finished with 166 yards and two scores. Casey Filkins led the rush with 80 yards from 19 carries, and also caught three balls for 59 yards and a score.

PICK: I’m going Oregon State but probably not touching this one. Both teams are coming off sizable losses to top-shelf opponents, so it’s tougher to gauge. In any case, Oregon State actually out-gained Utah 417-361 in their loss, but the four interceptions and sketchy 3-of-10 run on third downs prevented the team from keeping it close. The Beavers should match up much better here.

As for Stanford, they played better in the second half versus Oregon but the deficit was too much to make up. I like the Cardinal to keep pace for a while here before the Beavers power out the cover.
