Prairie View A&M vs. Jackson State 12/4/21 College Football Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Prairie View A&M Panthers and the Jackson State Tigers meet in the SWAC championship game on Saturday.

The Prairie View A&M Panthers come into this one at 7-4 on the year after a 3rd straight loss in a 24-19 loss to Mississippi Valley State last time out. Jawon Pass has 2,592 yards, 16 touchdowns and 9 interceptions on 63.3% passing while Jaden Stewart has 664 rushing yards and 7 touchdowns this season. Antonio Mullins leads the Prairie View A&M offense with 584 receiving yards and 3 TDs while Jailon Howard has 445 receiving yards with 4 TDs as well this season. On defense, Drake Cheatum has a team-high 82 total tackles while Jason Durnas has a team-high 7.5 sacks this season.

The Jackson State Tigers will be looking to add to their 10-1 mark on the year after a 24-10 win over Alcorn State in the season finale. Shedeur Sanders has thrown for 2,971 yards, 28 touchdowns and 5 interceptions on 68.7% passing while Santee Marshall has a team-high 376 rushing yards with 3 TDs and Peytton Pickett has 328 rushing yards and 4 scores. Keith Corbin III has 887 receiving yards and 6 touchdowns to lead Jackson State while Malachi Wideman has 482 receiving yards with 11 touchdowns and Travonte Rucker has 443 receiving yards as well. Josh Lanier and Warren Newman each have 300+ receiving yards as well this season for the Tigers. On defense, Aubrey Miller Jr. leads Jackson State with 91 total tackles while James Houston has a team-high 14.5 sacks as well this season.

The Panthers come into this game as a serious threat with former Louisville QB Jawon Pass leading the charge, but the Panthers didn’t look all that good down the stretch, losing three straight games including their home loss on senior day to Mississippi Valley State. On the other side, Jackson State rolled to their 10-1 record, and while it wasn’t always pretty, it was effective as the Tigers looked solid defensively all year long. With that said, I’m leaning towards the under here as I’m expecting a lower-scoring, defensive battle
